2023 Toyota Sequoia Driving Over Bridge

Toyota’s largest SUV has been reborn for 2023 with a new hybrid powertrain and a stylish design update! The 2023 Sequoia is now a great pick for Albuquerque-area drivers looking to reduce fuel use without sacrificing the cavernous interior and towing power of a full-size SUV. With front-wheel drive, the Sequoia MPG is as high as 22 city/highway miles power gallon. Opting for all-wheel drives knocks that figure down to 20 MPG combined— still an excellent result for an SUV of this size.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Fuel Economy Specs: RWD vs. AWD

The 2023 Toytota Sequoia is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine that’s paired with a self-charging electric motor. Rio Rancho drivers can choose either rear-wheel drive for better Toyota Sequoia fuel economy, or all-wheel drive for enhanced traction in deep snow or on the trail.

To get the best possible Toyota Sequoia fuel economy, you’ll need to select the front-wheel drive system. By sending power exclusively to the rear axle rather than to both axles, the RWD configuration is able to use less fuel than the AWD configuration.

Hybrid vs. Plug-in Hybrid Powertrains

The Sequoia is a conventional hybrid vehicle, which means it has a gasoline engine and an electric motor that work together to increase fuel economy. Unlike a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric vehicle, a conventional hybrid doesn’t need to be charged. Just fill up at a gas station in Espanola as usual, and you’re good to go!

Sequoia MPG: 2022 vs. 2023

The 2023 Sequoia is that this year’s model only comes with the V6 hybrid powertrain, which makes it one of the most efficient SUVs in its class! The improvement from 2022 to 2023 is significant: the 2022 Sequoia was powered by a 5.7L V8 that earned 15 MPG at best. What’s more, the 2023 Sequoia easily bests large SUV competitors such as the Chevy Tahoe.
