Used Car Reconditioning

When we purchase a vehicle from you or at auction, we do a thorough safety check first.
This is when we determine whether to retail the vehicle or sell it to a wholesaler for parts.

The Used Car Reconditioning Process at Toyota of Santa Fe includes:

  • Step 1: Vehicle walk around and test drive.
  • Step 2: Inspection of exterior, interior, engine.
  • Step 3: Inspection of all fluids, hoses, battery.
  • Step 4: Inspection on lift for inspection of brakes, tires and underbody.
  • Step 5: Any repairs needed?  Is this a candidate for retail?  for certification?  If no to both, vehicle is tagged for wholesale. Process ends here.   If yes, vehicle proceeds to repair and/or certification.

If the vehicle is to be retailed, or certified, several other steps continue.

    • Step 6: Repair, Certification.
    • Step 7: After all issues are repaired or parts are replaced, we move the vehicle to our detail area.
    • Step 8: Merchandising. Write the description, inventory equipment.
    • Step 9: Quality Control

Used Car Reconditioning Manager

When you bring your vehicle to service, your service advisor help you on repair options. Our used car reconditioning manager, Ray Anchondo,  does the same thing for our dealership.


Ray Anchondo

Ray  manages the work done on the vehicle, collects estimates for repairs and advises us on selling the vehicle for retail or selling to a wholesaler. He also recommends vehicles for certification and manages that process if we proceed.

 DESCRIPTION

Used Car Reconditioning Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing multiple vehicle makes and models as assigned by the Service Manager.  Toyota of Santa Fe Service Technician must be a self driven, hardworking individual. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the ability to work efficiently and effectively, and have great customer service skills to ensure the performance of the service department as a whole. We offer competitive compensation for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Automotive Technicians perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Automotive Technicians diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems.
  • Automotive Technicians provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
  • Automotive Technicians explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean, and be able to account for dealership tools at all times
  • Road-test vehicles to ensure of quality repair
  • Adapt to rapidly changing technologies in the automotive industry, as well as in the diagnostics arena
Job Requirements
  • ASE certified preferred!
  • Automotive service / repair experience in a dealership
  • Perform vehicle repair and maintenance work to meet dealership and factory standards
  • Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Manual dexterity
  • Good Judgement
  • Computer experience
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment, etc.)
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen
