Its important to continue maintenance even during COVID19. Your Toyota should be checked every five months by a certified Toyota Technician even if you aren’t driving it. Regular maintenance is strongly recommended by Toyota periodically to keep your vehicle in optimum condition. During these checks, we provide multipoint inspections to make sure everything is okay and safe to drive. If you are uncomfortable coming into the dealership, please call us at 505-780-4767.

What does it include and why?

If your vehicle requires conventional oil, you get an oil change every appointment. If your vehicle requires synthetic oil, you don’t need an oil change as often, so every other appointment is an oil change.
During each appointment, your vehicle receives multipoint inspections, and checks the fluid levels

Multipoint Inspection

Think of this as a check-up for your vehicle. This is an opportunity to check that your vehicle is optimized and running smoothly.
To ensure that your vehicle receives first-quality service and parts, Toyota recommends having maintenance performed by an authorized Toyota dealership. Toyota dealership technicians are experts on Toyota vehicles, and they use Genuine Toyota Parts designed to your vehicle’s exact specifications. When you go to a Toyota dealership, you can be confident that they will use Genuine Toyota parts and have Toyota-trained technicians.

Synthetic Oil Change Intervals

Regardless of the type of oil your vehicle has, you should plan to bring it to your dealer every 5000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. If your vehicle has synthetic oil, you won’t need to get an oil change every time.

What are the oil change intervals using synthetic oil?

  • Only Toyota vehicles in which 0w-20 synthetic oil is required (except 3UR-FBE Engines*) have been approved for extended oil change intervals of 10,000-miles/12-months. (However, you should continue to check the oil level regularly and top off if needed. That will help your engine get the full benefit of synthetic oil.)
  • Vehicles in which 0w-20 is an option to 5w-20 mineral oil, (or 5w-30), will continue to require 5,000-mile/6-month oil change intervals, even if 0w-20 oil is used.
  • In the case of vehicles with 10,000 mile oil change intervals, the 5,000 mile service interval has not been eliminated. The traditional 5,000 mile maintenance procedures (such as tire rotation) will continue to be required, and the fluid levels (such as brake fluid) will need to be checked and adjusted at this time.
  • If the vehicle operation meets the standard criteria for “Special Operating Conditions” such as: driving off-road, on dirt roads, towing a trailer, making repeated short trips under 32˚ F, or extensive idling; the engine oil must be replaced at 5,000 mile intervals, regardless of what type of oil is used.
