Toyota has been a leader in electrification since the Prius changed history in 2007, but the Toyota bZ4X Concept represents the brand’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future. bZ stands for “Beyond Zero,” Toyota’s mission to bring the most advanced automotive technology to the mainstream market. Thanks to a carbon neutral all-wheel drive system, this all-electric Toyota SUV goes above and beyond to create a net positive impact.

Learn more below about the Toyota bZ4X powertrain and design, and reach out to our team for details on when the bZ4X will arrive at our Santa Fe Toyota dealership!

All-New Toyota bZ4X: Performance Specs

We don’t have much information about the bZ4X powertrain at the time of writing, except that it uses a new AWD system as standard. This system may use a pair of electric motors to power the front and rear axles, or it may route power from a single electric motor to power both axles. We’ll know more as we approach the bZ4X release date in mid-2022, so be sure to check back with our team for details as they become available.

All-New Toyota bZ4X: Design & Interior

The Toyota bZ4X is different — so we’re not surprised by the edgy design details that set it apart from the brand’s gas-powered SUV lineup. We haven’t had the chance to look inside the cabin, but promotional images suggest that the bZ4X interior offers square footage cargo space that’s similar to the RAV4. Here’s what we know to expect so far:

  • Long wheelbase with short overhangs
  • Open-concept interior for optimal comfort and confidence on the road
  • Instrument panel and steering wheel meter repositioned to increase visibility
  • Wide center console between front-row seats
  • Digital gauge display and a large infotainment touchscreen
  • Panoramic roof
  • Futuristic dash design

For Toyota, the Future is Carbon-Neutral

Toyota has committed to expanding its global electrified product portfolio to around 70 models by 2025, so the bZ4X all-electric Toyota SUV will kick off a full lineup of “Toyota bZ” carbon-neutral vehicles to come. And like the Toyota bZ4X, you can expect them to feature groundbreaking alternative-fuel and zero-emission powertrain technologies. So far, we know that the bZ family will include:

  • 15 dedicated BEVs
  • Seven BEVs carrying the bZ moniker
  • Lineup of electrified pickup trucks
